PeacePlayers uses basketball to unite, inspire and educate young people in divided communities around the world. Originating in Northern Ireland as a tool to engage Protestant and Catholic youths, PeacePlayers has since spread to South Africa, the West Bank and Israel, and Cyprus. PeacePlayers’ methodology uses frequent, long-term integration, local leadership development, and and peace and leadership curricula to affect change in the young people it serves. In addition to numerous awards and honors, PeacePlayers received the 2011 “Non-Governmental Organization for Peace of the Year” Award from Peace and Sport. Brian Cognato, the Technical Assistance Program Director based out of Washington, D.C. will bring PeacePlayers’ unique vision and methods to the table at Change the Game.
