Dean Conway has an impressive youth soccer coaching pedigree. Dean has served as state head coach and director of coaching for the Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association from 1997 – 2002, during which time he implemented a staff of full-time development coaches and established MYSA’s Education Directors program. Dean has also coached professional for the WUSA Boston Breakers and Washington Freedom, D.C. United, and the US. Women’s Olympic Team and UCLA. Dean was also named as Director of Youth Development for the New England Revolution in 2004. In this role, Dean directed and supervised the Revolution Academy programs and all youth soccer initiatives for the Revolution. Dean has published a book, “Soccer Calling: A Handbook for Youth Soccer Coaches” and received the US Youth Soccer Excellence in Youth Coaching Education Award. Currently, Dean is the Director of Coaching Education for J.P. Youth Soccer in Boston. Dean has changed the way soccer is played in J.P. by getting rid of intact teams and changing the size of the fields to help players learn different styles of play and learn to work with different team members and coaches. This has also reduced conflicts with overly competitive parents.
Dean’s extensive experience coaching youth soccer and implementing sport system re-designs in his programming will make him an excellent mentor at Change the Game. We’re honored to have him join us!
