Harlem Lacrosse and Leadership Corp. runs lacrosse programming out of Frederick Douglas Academy, a co-educational community school serving mostly low-income students from Harlem and the Bronx. After a few years with only 1 win and limited resources, the team now has six coaches and a roster of over 40 middle schoolers, Harlem’s premier middle school team enters its third season hoping to continue to make waves in Harlem and the national lacrosse community with their sensational play on the field and academic achievement off of it. HLL is producing competitive players on par with private schools and club teams. The team also supports special education students through additional academic support and coaching. These students are successfully moving on to high school in a community where they tend to fall through the cracks of the education system. Sam Klein, Co-Founder of Harlem Lacrosse and Leadership will be joining us at Change the Game.
